Proxy checker.
Paste a proxy. This server connects to it, fetches this site's own IP page through it, and tells you whether it answers, how fast, which protocols it speaks and which exit address it shows. Nothing you paste is stored.
- Reachable or not: whether the port accepts a TCP connection, and in how many milliseconds
- Protocol support: whether an HTTP CONNECT tunnel and a SOCKS5 handshake succeed
- Authentication: a 407 means the username or password was refused, or your address is not allowlisted
- Exit IP: the address a website sees when the request leaves the proxy
Reading the result
Unreachable means nothing answered on that port: a typo, a proxy that is down, a firewall between this server and it, or an allowlist that does not include this server's address. Reachable but not working means the port accepted the connection and then something failed: a 407 is wrong credentials or a missing allowlist entry; a handshake failure on one protocol with the other working is normal, since many proxies speak only one; a timeout after connecting usually means the proxy accepted you and could not reach the target.
Working means the full round trip succeeded and the exit address shown is what a website would see. For a residential proxy that address changes with every request unless the password carries a session tag; for an ISP or datacenter proxy it is the dedicated address you bought; for rotating IPv6 it is a fresh IPv6 address each time, and the check only works over HTTP because that product speaks no SOCKS5.
To check many proxies at once, do it from your own machine with curl against https://ghostconnect.com/tools/my-ip/?format=text, or from code with the API, which lists every proxy on your account with its credentials.
About the checker.
What does the checker actually do?
It opens a connection from this site's server to the proxy you pasted, asks the proxy to fetch this site's own what-is-my-IP page, and reports what happened: whether the port accepted the connection, whether an HTTP CONNECT or a SOCKS5 handshake succeeded, how long each step took, and the exit address the page saw.
Why does it say the proxy is working but my tool fails?
The check runs from this server's address. If the proxy is allowlisted to your IP rather than password-authenticated, it will refuse this server and accept you, or the reverse. The timing is also measured from here, not from your network.
Can I check a residential proxy with targeting tags?
Yes. Paste the whole password including the tags, for example a GhostConnect residential line with _country-DE_lifetime-30_session-abc123 appended. The tags travel inside the password and the exit address will be in the country you asked for.
Why is there no country next to the exit address?
Looking a country up would mean either shipping an IP database or asking a third-party service, and this site sends nothing about your request to anyone else. The exit address is shown; a search for it in any IP lookup tool gives the country.
Is my proxy or its password stored?
No. The line you paste is used for the check and discarded with the request. The server keeps no access log, this page sets no cookie, and the privacy page lists everything the site stores. The only thing kept is a counter of how many checks your connection ran in the last quarter hour, named by a daily-rotating hash that cannot be turned back into your address.
Which proxies cannot be checked?
Private, loopback and reserved addresses, this site's own servers, ports below 1024 other than 80 and 443, and well-known database ports. The tool checks proxies, it is not a port scanner.
